September 18, 2011 -  Flying with Matt

There was good flying weather today so I took our friend's son Matt with me and went RVing over the Eastern Shore.

The sky was unusual this day.  There was a broken later around 3500 feet which we climbed through.  But then there was a solid overcast layer around 7000 feet.  But as we headed north, the overcast layer above us suddenly disappeared, replaced by sunny blue sky.

It was quite scenic, with the sun lighting up the green and brown land, in between puffy white clouds.  I let Matt fly -- he probably has a couple of hours of stick time by now in the RV and Cub -- and he can get the RV where he wants it to go.

Cruising over the broken layer.

We did some touch and gos at Smyrna, and then followed the Chester River to the Chesapeake Bay.  Now we are headed home across the bay.  Visibility was excellent.  You can just make out the Chesapeake Bay bridge in the center of the picture.

The Bay was still dirty looking from the recent storm that flooded the Susquehanna River.

Matt and I both greatly enjoyed having fun flying the RV which is just such a great airplane.
